Sustainable packaging options

Recyclable
Our recyclable packaging is manufactured from mono-material structures with 95%-100% single polymer, typically PE or PP film.
 
Pouching provides a full range of recyclable options to suit different barrier needs:
 
  • High-barrier recyclable structures: MDOPE/PE‑EVOH/PE
  • Standard-barrier recyclable structures: MDOPE/PE, BOPE/PE
  • PCR PE recyclable films
 
These recyclable solutions support a wide variety of pouch formats, including stand-up pouches, flat bottom pouches, and more, and can be engineered to hold heavy contents up to 6 kg.
 
Our recyclable pouches can easily be recycled via local plastic packaging collection programs across the EU and through store drop-off points in North America when cleaned and dried.
 
All our recyclable pouches are eligible for certifications including RecyClass, How2Recycle, REDcycle and SOFT PLASTIC, and fully comply with FDA food contact standards.

Which is better: biodegradable vs compostable?
All compostable packaging is biodegradable, but compostable meets strict certified standards, while biodegradable is often vague and unregulated.
 
Compostable packaging breaks down within 180 days under industrial or home composting conditions, leaving only water, CO₂ and organic matter, no microplastics, no toxic residues. It is verified by certifications such as OK Compost Home & Industrial.
 
Biodegradable packaging only describes materials that break down over time, with no official timeline, standard or certification. The process can take years and may generate microplastics, making it a less reliable and less verifiable eco-option.
What’s the difference between at-home vs industrial compostables?

Industrial compostable packaging breaks down under controlled conditions: high heat, moisture, and microbial activity, usually in 90–180 days.

At-home compostable packaging is designed to break down in a backyard compost bin but often takes longer and may not fully decompose if conditions aren’t ideal. Industrial composting is faster and more reliable for consistent results.

Is compostable packaging better than recyclable?

It depends on your goals. Compostable packaging breaks down into natural elements under industrial composting conditions, reducing landfill waste. Recyclable packaging can be reused in new products, reducing the need for virgin materials.

From a practical performance perspective, recyclable pouches deliver higher barrier properties and longer shelf life, making them ideal for products that require extended protection.

Due to the inherent characteristics of raw materials, compostable packaging is better suited for fast‑turnover, short‑shelf‑life products.

Do your recyclable films perform as well as your regular films?
Yes, our recyclable pouches can meet the requirements of most products, including high-barrier options.
 
However, compared with conventional pouches, there are two key points to note:
 
  1. Since recyclable pouches do not contain an aluminum foil layer, they cannot provide full light blocking.
  2. Currently, recyclable pouches are not suitable for heavy products.
